Sarah Tran is the second flutist of the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra and the Dallas Chamber Symphony. She has also performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and The Dallas Winds. Additionally, Sarah has been a member of the Chautauqua Music School Festival Orchestra in New York and the Round Top Festival Institute Orchestra in Texas.
Sarah is a nationally competitive flutist and has won 1st place in the National Flute Association Orchestral Audition Competition, MidSouth Young Artist Competition, Oklahoma Collegiate Competition and Kentucky Collegiate Artist Competition. She was also a winner of the Texas Flute Festival Orchestral Excerpts Competition and the NFA Masterclass Performers Competition. In 2015, Sarah performed at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall in New York City as a second place winner of the American Protégé International Winds & Brass Competition.
Awarded Outstanding Undergraduate in Woodwinds, Sarah earned her Bachelor of Music degrees in Flute Performance and Music Education, summa cum laude, from the University of North Texas. She then received her Master of Music degree in Flute Performance at Southern Methodist University where she was a Meadows Artistic Scholarship Award Recipient.
As a recording flutist, Sarah can be heard on the GIA Windworks label as a member of the UNT Wind Symphony, Klavier Records as a member of The Dallas Winds, as well as the original soundtrack to The Banner Saga.
